IRON MOUNTAIN STAGE COMPANY was founded in April 1993.

IMSC is an award winning, non-profit performing arts company located in the beautiful mountain setting of Ringwood, New Jersey. Our goal is to continue to be an integral part of our unique community, and a significant cultural and educational resource to the surrounding areas.

The IMSC Board of Directors are:

  • William Benzie (President)
  • Marie Cannici (Vice President)
  • Linda Gerdes (Treasurer)
  • Patricia Sullivan (Secretary)
  • Marijane Santella (Board Member)
  • John Santella (Board Member)
  • Laura Jacobson (Board Member)

Iron Mountain has successfully produced a varied collection of more than 50 shows, has held numerous classes, workshops and community outreach programs, has collaborated with and helped support other community, charitable and educational organizations, and has hosted two drama and music camps for children.

Since 2016 IMSC has been the resident stage company in partnership with The New Weis Center for Education, Arts & Recreation at 150 Snake Den Road in Ringwood, NJ. We are now doing all our public performances there and also participating in their summer camp program and presenting some improvisational evening workshops.

In 1995, IMSC opened a performing arts program called “FOOTHILLS”. Through “FOOTHILLS”, IMSC offered drama and music workshops and classes for children ages 6-12.  In May 2001, under the direction of Denise Agnello, “FOOTHILLS” designed and facilitated an arts program at Hewitt School in Ringwood called CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS for fourth and fifth graders. Iron Mountain was invited back to repeat the program in May 2002 and June 2003.

Our productions range in style from the popular to the avant-garde, from straight dramas and comedies to musical revues, operettas and fully staged musicals.

Prior to our relocation and partnership with the New Weis Center for Education, Arts & Recreation, IMSC had performed shows in a variety of local venues which included dinner-theatre shows at the Community Presbyterian Church in Ringwood and at Prime 15 Reastaurant in Ringwood, and regular show performances at the seniors theatre at Bald Eagle Commons in West Milford, and the Wanaque Reserve seniors community, and general community performances at the local Ringwood Fire Department Hall, and the Ringwood Library and other local venues.

IMSC shows are typically performed in both the Spring and Fall seasons, and sometimes there may be a summer show.

In recent years IMSC has made a concerted effort to highlight local community artistic talent when possible, not only for local amateur actors but also for local community playwrights and directors, by providing both the opportunity and outlet for public performances of their artistic work that would otherwise not be available to those artists.

It has been and continues to be a major goal of IMSC to provide opportunities for people to see and participate in quality live theater at affordable prices, especially for seniors groups within our community. In our view, this has become more important in recent years due to the high cost of attending live performances in Manhattan.

Tthrough our focus on the community artistic talent of local playwrights, directors, actors and seniors audiences, the Iron Mountain Stage Company takes pride in being able to provide an ongoing full community theater experience for the Ringwood area. We believe that the future of American theater lies not in Broadway but at the community theater level.
